Described as ‘…a playful and boldly curious return’, Swim Deep’s second album has certainly got music-heads talking since its anticipated release last month. The Birmingham based band have progressed in more ways than one it seems. New record ‘Mothers’ is infectiously quirky and fast-paced, pulling in psychedelic influences and mashed up pop beats. Obvious comparisons can be made with other contemporary acts Tame Impala and Flaming Lips, whilst the engaging vocals hark back to a 90’s Britpop vibe.
8 minute funk-monster marathon ‘Fueiho Boogie’ is our TOTW. It resembles everything that is great about Swim Deep at the moment – from zany lyrics, to dreamy synths, to rapid drum beats, it ticks a lot of boxes. Give it a go.
